Medical Weight Loss
Medical Weight Loss in Wappingers Falls
This is medical care rather than something you buy. It starts with an evaluation by a licensed provider, and whether it is appropriate for you is a decision made there rather than one you make from a web page.

What This Is
Medical Care, Not A Product
There are programs you can start online in a few minutes by filling in a form and entering a card number. This is not one of those.
Medically supervised weight care means a licensed provider evaluates you first, decides with you whether this is appropriate, stays involved while you are under their care, and is accountable for that decision. It is the same relationship you would have with any other clinician treating any other condition.
The practical difference is that somebody who is responsible for your health is looking at the whole picture, including the things that have nothing to do with weight, and can change course or stop.
Who You Would See
The People Behind It
Dorothy Bodnar, FNP-BC, is a nurse practitioner here and a Certified Bariatric Nurse. That certification is specific to the care of patients managing weight, and it is the reason this service exists at Renu rather than being something we added to a menu.
Dr. Ali Khan, MD, MBA, MPH, is our Medical Director.
You can read about both, and the rest of the team, on our providers page. We think it is reasonable to want to know who you would be talking to before you make the appointment.
The First Appointment
What An Evaluation Involves
The first appointment is an evaluation, not a treatment. It is a conversation with a licensed provider about your health.
You talk through your health history and anything you are currently being treated for
You go over the medications and supplements you take
Your provider asks what you have tried before and how your body responded to it
Your provider explains whether this is something they can help with, and what that would involve
You are told what happens next, including if the answer is that this is not the right route for you
What you have tried before is useful clinical information, not a test you passed or failed. Say what actually happened, including the parts that did not go the way you wanted, because that is the part your provider can actually use.
Being Straight With You
Not Everyone Is A Candidate
Whether this is appropriate for you is a medical decision, and it is made after an evaluation rather than before one. Some people will be told this is not the right route for them. Some will be told that something else should be looked at first, or that another kind of clinician is better placed to help.
You will hear that plainly and in the room. We are not going to take a booking from somebody we do not think we should be treating, and if that is the outcome of your evaluation we will tell you what we would suggest instead.
This is also not a single appointment service. Ongoing contact with your provider is part of how this care works, and if that is not something you are in a position to commit to, that is worth saying at the evaluation rather than afterwards.
How We Talk About This
Your Body Is Not The Problem
We are not going to talk about your body as something broken, and we are not going to suggest that what has or has not worked before says anything about you. Weight is not a character question and it is not a matter of wanting it enough.
If you have been spoken to badly about this by a clinician before, you are not unusual, and we would rather you told us so than sat through an appointment bracing for it.
What You Will Not Find Here
No Numbers, No Names
You will notice this page does not name a medication and does not quote a figure of any kind. That is deliberate.
What is appropriate for one person is not appropriate for another, and that decision belongs to a provider who has evaluated you. A number on a web page is a marketing device rather than a medical one, and naming a treatment before anybody has assessed you is putting the answer before the question.
Ask us at the evaluation. You will get a real answer, about you.

Before You Book
These are medical aesthetic treatments, so we start with a consultation rather than a booking. A licensed provider reviews your history and what you want to change, confirms whether a treatment is appropriate for you, and plans it around your skin. If something is not a good fit, we will tell you.
A consultation is required before any treatment is planned
Every treatment is performed by a licensed provider
Suitability depends on your history, your skin, and your goals
Individual results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed
